Awareness & Activation

SAFE has collaborated with a number of ethical groups that have assisted SAFE in achieving long-term success in a variety of health, safety, and environmental programs in Bangladesh. In collaboration with various organizations or forums (such as Clean up Bangladesh, Make Road Safe, Clean Dhaka Week, etc.), SAFE organizes a number of awareness campaigns (Hand wash, safe water, road safety, heat wave, earthquake safety, coastal cleanup, waste management) on various safety-related issues in Bangladesh each year.

In collaboration with the Bangladesh Explosive Department, SAFE creates advocacy materials for the national and local levels on topics such as safe hand washing procedures, road safety (Safewalk, Keep LEFT, Turn Off the Phone and Watch the Roads, Fasten Your Seat Belt While Driving), and the public safety awareness campaign Safe Cylinder, Safe Family.

As part of their corporate social responsibility, SAFE and Reckitt Benckiser, one of the multinational companies for the well-known Dettol brand, successfully completed the “Dettol Safe School Handwashing Campaign 2006-7 and 2008-09” to educate the students of thirty prestigious schools in Dhaka City about the value of hand washing.
The Public-Private Partnership started Global Handwashing Day on October 15 in 2008 with the sole purpose of promoting safe handwashing techniques among schoolchildren. In an event sponsored by National Handwashing Campaign partners and organized at various locations in 87,00 schools across Bangladesh on October 15, 2009, 52,970 people participated in breaking the Guinness World Record for the most people washing their hands.
In collaboration with SAFE, Project SEARCH is a TERI-Tetra Pak effort that aims to educate students, teachers, parents, and the greater school community about the need to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste in 12 elite schools in Dhaka.
